Kazakhstan Pension Fund Sees Significant Increase in Private Fund Transfers

Younger Kazakh citizens are increasingly transferring their pension savings to private management. Since 2021, individuals can move funds from the Unified Pension Fund (ENPF) to investment portfolio managers. The allowable portion has risen to 100% by September 2026. As of August 31, 2023, 179 billion tenge have been transferred to private companies by 180,500 individuals, an 18-fold increase in participants since 2021.
