Kyrgyz court denies journalist Mahabat Tajiibek kyzy travel for prestigious award ceremony

A court in Bishkek denied Kyrgyz journalist Mahabat Tajiibek kyzy permission to travel to London to receive The Albies award. The Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Press Institute urged Kyrgyzstan to drop charges against her, citing concerns for press freedom. CPJ stated that Kyrgyzstan has an opportunity to rectify damage to its international reputation by allowing her to work freely.
