Kazakhstan Police Implement New Rules for Electric Scooters, Restricting Sidewalk Use

As of August 25, electric scooters are banned from sidewalks and pedestrian paths in Kazakhstan. Police will monitor compliance using surveillance cameras, technical devices, and drones. Mobile police units on scooters will also patrol urban areas. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has notified shared scooter companies of the new regulations, which aim to improve safety following 139 accidents involving scooters this year.
