Archaeologists in Kazakhstan's East Kazakhstan region have discovered the Kalzhr settlement, dating back approximately 1,500 years to the Turkic Khaganate era. Excavations in the Zaisan depression revealed architectural elements, including building interiors, adobe floors, and plaster fragments with ornamentation. A burial structure, a 'kereksur' from the late Bronze Age, was also found, expanding knowledge of such monuments' western distribution.
