Uzbekistan Increases Fines for Begging and Related Offenses

Uzbekistan has raised fines for begging in public places and for involving others in this activity. The new penalties, effective immediately, range from three to five times the basic calculation amount, or up to 15 days of administrative arrest. Previously, fines were one to three times the basic amount. Stricter penalties now apply to involving minors, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities in begging.
